The Zula Patrol: Explore Space! DVD

My girls and I were very excited when we received The Zula Patrol: Explore Space! DVD in the mail, they are always excited to get a new movie. :) And ECSTATIC when they get something in the mail.

Over the last couple of years, John and I have tried to get our kids to watch classic cartoons like Tom and Jerry and Spiderman but they just weren’t interested because the content was older and not at all slick and flashy like all of the movies that come out each year geared towards children. Also, in the past they have been reluctant to watch anything that wasn’t mainstream Disney or Nickelodeon, which can be very frustrating for us, especially when we find a killer deal on something we think would be reasonably entertaining for them. Oh, they’ll watch older cartoons, but it pretty much has to have Disney stamped all over it.

What I am getting at is that my kids are movie snobs. Yes, these two cutie patooties right here.

Buying movies for them is a roll of the dice for us. Losing $20 a pop can be painful to say the least.

When we received The Zula Patrol: Explore Space! DVD from the fantastic folks at The Parent Bloggers Network, Anna was very excited because I told her it was about space and planets. Emma remained skeptical, as usual (Hmmm, I wonder where she gets it from?)… BUT, as soon as the DVD started, they both sat through the the entire DVD; 57 minutes and 4 episodes. Both of them enjoyed the CGI animation; there was lots of giggles, and Awwww’s; and neither of them moved the entire time. Emma even got some of the answers right for the fun quizzes they have at the end of each episode.

What I liked the most about this DVD was that they made learning fun, and that they made learning about space uncomplicated so that it was enjoyable/educational for both my 7 year old and my 3 year old. Also, the animation is very engaging and colorful, and the story lines are very imaginative.

What Anna (7 years old) liked was “that it was educational” ( her words exactly), and she loved the

characters Zeeter

Gorga (space doggie)

and Wizzy and Wigg.

She also pretended to be Zeeter during recess with some of her classmates while pretending that a mound of snow on the playground was some snowy mountain scape on an alien planet.

Emma (almost 3 years old) also loved Gorga, and Wizzy and Wigg… and she asked if we could get a “gorga” after she watched the DVD! Emma liked the DVD so much, that she asked if she could watch it 2 days in a row while Anna was at school.

I would recommend this The Zula Patrol: Explore Space! DVD for children 10 years and younger, my kids really enjoyed watching it. I also recommend having their snacks and drinks ready before you watch because they won’t want to miss a second!
